Billibellary's Walk

Billibellary's Walk is a self-guided activity that helps you learn about the cultural landscape of the land that the University of Melbourne is built on.

You can access Billibellary's Walk through the app (Google Play or App Store) or by accessing the map and narrative.

Billibellary's Walk is named after the ngurungaeta (clan head) of the Wurundjeri people at the time of Melbourne’s settlement. It is designed to help participants hear the whispers and songs of the Wurundjeri people that lie within the University of Melbourne's built environment, providing a cultural interpretation of the campus landscape.

Throughout the activity, you are drawn to the signs that share stories and provide insight into the experiences of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung who have lived on Country for over 40,000 years. The Walk is purposefully created to contribute to the importance of dialogue and discussing the issues faced by Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
